I hope you’ve had a good festive break, and wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous year ahead. We’ve enjoyed a fantastic first year, making Purrple Cat Cafe a sanctuary for 29 cats (and many humans who visit us for therapy too!).
There's loads going on in the next few weeks, so keep your eyes on your inbox!

Throughout the month of January, we are welcoming our younger guests on the first 2 sessions of the day. This is on the 9.30am & 11am sessions, and includes weekends for January! All under 5’s must be booked in as “child under 12” and the number of children per session will still be capped at 6 maximum. We have a toddler friendly menu, and can warm bottles on request. February Toddler Friendly Sessions will be from Saturday 9th – Sunday 17th (inclusive) both 9.30am and 11am sessions.
We are loving these dark winter nights, and snuggling up with our resident fluffy friends! The days are getting longer again, so we're making the most of it by taking over 2 sessions and putting a Mewvie on our big screen! Doors open at 6.30pm and the movie begins at 6.45pm. It's £15 / £12 for members. Tickets include a refillable soft drink & we have a selection of cinema style foods are available to buy on the night.
Friday 1st February- we're returning to the glorious 80’s! When hair was huge, and movies were massive! With so many classic movies appearing in that decade, it’s impossible for us to choose 1 favourite so we’ve handed the reigns over to you guys, and let you choose. We’ve made a few suggestions, but feel free to make suggestions of your own using the “other” option. Voting is open here
Friday 15th February & it’s Annual Forced Romance Weekend! Folk are dressing up in their finest attire, and eating in fancy restaurants, cinemas are bursting at the seams, and the pressure is on to impress. We have no such pressure at Purrple Cat Cafe, seeing as our one true love is cats! We'll be showing a Mewvie, and you’re welcome to bring a pal, or a partner, or just yourself. The vote for the Forced Romance Mewvie will open once the 80s vote closes, and we will send out a separate email with the link to vote.
Doors open at 6.30pm, where you’ll be greeted with a choice of complimentary herbal teas. An hour of hatha yoga begins at 7pm. This class is suited for all abilities, including beginners. It’s a relaxing class, led by our resident instructor Rosie, who has been with us since we opened a year ago. The cats know Rosie well, and they even try to join in with the class! When the class finishes, you’ll have time to grab a bite to eat and play with the cats before heading home recharged. Booking is on our website under “Book" then “Events". The class costs £15 / £12 members.
If you’ve ever wanted to go to a book club, but never had the time, then our Express Book Club is for you! We meet every month and discuss short stories or poems, usually with a feline theme. Each piece we discuss is short, so it can be read in the cafe before the group starts, or you can read it at home. This month, our story is ‘Puss In Boots’ by Angela Carter, and we have some copies printed in the cafe for you to read before we start chatting.
The arts & craft tasks change every week and all materials are provided. No prior skills required. Just book in for the last session on Wednesday and put “craft" in your notes.
Every Thursday we get together and test your knowledge of everything from cats to cacti, and we award points for answers we like (even if they’re not the answer we were looking for!) Its a family friendly quiz, and there’s always prizes for the top 3 teams. Simply book in for the last session on a Thursday and join us!
We're about to launch our Winter/Spring menu, and we would love to run it past some of you guys for a wee taste test! If you’d like to take part, our Taste event is on 25th January at 7.30pm and open to both members and non members. We'll be asking you to sample a range of foods, and give your feedback on what you like and don’t like. There is a fee of £10 per person payable on booking, and this will, include all food and drinks for the night. Any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Our recent recruitment opening has received an overwhelming response, and we are not surprised! Application closes this Friday 11th January so get your application in ASAP to be considered. We offer the living wage, 6 weeks paid holiday per year and numerous benefits as well as getting to work with Glasgow's coolest cats! Once recruitment closes, we will be responding to applicants looking for further information, if your application has something interesting in it. We are unable to respond to unsuccessful applications, due to the number of applications.
Many of our staff and members have an interest (bordering on obsession sometimes) in what could be considered “geeky" and we thought Purrple Cat Cafe would be a cool place to hang out and enjoy our various fandoms together. Starting from March, we are looking into turning the cafe into a geek retreat on a Friday night towards the end of the month, with games, movies, cosplay and other activities relating to our various interests. The idea is still quite new, and activities would depend on the fandom in question each time, but if you’re interested in being part of the group, please email email@example.com to register your interest, and we will get back to you!
We updated some of our website recently and are aware of a technical issue affecting some people when trying to book, and we must apologise for any inconvenience caused. This issue has been resolved, however if you have been affected by this and unable to log in or booking isn’t working for you, please email our technical team firstname.lastname@example.org who will be happy to resolve this for you. Once again, thank you for your patience.
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you soon! Tracey & the Team @ PCC
